Farmers protesting at the Ghazipur border have refused to move, despite appeals from the UP administration and Officials. On Friday afternoon, clashes broke out between protesters and a group of locals at Singhu border, forced police to use tear gas to control the situation.
A group of locals started pelting stones after entering the protest site where farmers have been demanding a repeal of the farm laws passed by the Central government. The group claiming to be locals residents have been wanting the farmers to clear the area that has been occupied for over two months.
Security was increased in the area after the peaceful protests by the farmers turned violent with a section of them steering away from the farmers tractor rally that was conducted on Republic Day and making their way to Central Delhi where they clashed with police personnel.

At Singhu Border, Delhi Police fired tear gas shells and also resorted to mild lathi-charge on Friday after the Delhi-Haryana’s Singhu border witnessed clashes between the agitating farmers and the locals, who wanted the area to be cleared immediately.
Hundreds of locals arrived at the famers protest site and things came to blows as they demanded the area to be vacated by the agitators who have been at the site for more than two months. Locals asked them to clear the spot alleging that their presence was creating trouble. After heated argument, the locals started attacking the tents of the farmers. Following this there was stone pelting between both the groups. The Delhi Police and the security personnel deployed at the Singhu border had to resort to firing tear gas shells to disperse the crowd at the protest site.
